​A prima facie evaluation is a brief intervention to assess a complaint and to determine the best process for resolution. It can result in an investigation, a grievance or some other process for addressing the concern that has been flagged by the employee.

Applying the relevant definition the employer is permitted to review any employee complaint including harassment and violence to assess whether the alleged conduct corresponds to the applicable definition.
